Learner Support Services(LSS)

LDTC provides a wide range of functions to support learners in their pre-learning, during and post learning through the Learner Support Unit. The support services are categorized into two groups, the administrative and academic services.

1. Administrative Support:

LDTC provide the administrative services to you before and during registration. Before registration, a prospective learner may make a telephone call whereby one is given guidance on how to enrol ,and be given counseling session on academic and personal issues that may hinder harmonious learning. A learner will also have to attend one time orientation meeting held once a year in all Study Centers to inform you about LDTC services and guide you on how you can navigate your learning in the system of Open and Distance Education.

2. Academic Learner Support:

The Academic Support involves all services that you get in order to assist you during the teaching and learning process. They are workbooks dispatch, tutorials, marked assignments and feedback, and examination preparedness.

Workbooks

LDTC through the Material Development Unit develops and produces self- instructional learning materials/workbooks for each subject in conformity with the national curriculum. The workbooks are teacher in print. You are addressed as same as in a classroom set-up. The measurable learning objectives are stipulated prior to each topic. There are diverse learning activities for each concept. The learning assessment is done at the end of each workbook through the detailed assignment that you must do in the provided worksheet and submit for marking.( For Tutor-marked assignments)
Upon full payment of the registration and subjects fees, you will be dispatched with such workbooks for the subjects you have enrolled for. You must have them because they are the main medium of instruction.

Tutorials

Face-to-face: LDTC through Tutor Organizer’s Office conducts Face-to-Face (F2F) and Radio tutorials in order to assist learners to navigate the distance learning strategies and complement print as the main medium of instruction. Part-time teachers are engaged to facilitate the tutorials.
The F2F tutorials are conducted fortnightly at weekends. They are free of charge and you must attend them to get assistance and solutions from your tutor to tackle concepts that you find difficult during study time. They create an opportunity for you to meet other learners, and join group discussions.

Radio Broadcast: LDTC through Broadcasting Section prepares and produces weekly Radio lesson broadcasts to complement print learning materials, break the isolation, minimizes boredom and informs you about immediate messages.You must listen to the Radio episodes to keep abreast with changes that might affect your learning.
Tutors are invited in broadcast show to clarify the tricky concepts. The Radio shows are aired to motivate you, gives you study and reading skills.
The Radio tutoring is meant to sail you through your learning! So, stick to LDTC Radio Broadcasts!

Tutor-marked assignments:
